Living in the Sierras, we were inspired to create something with "my earth" in mind. We set out to find materials that could be salvaged, or were created organically for the benefit of ourselves and our environment.
salvaged materials
With extensive research we have discovered that there is so much out there to be used and reused, avoiding the throw away mentality that is rampant in our times. For example, when the new season of fabrics from various companies is available, upholsterers throw away their entire set of swatch books. We use the fabric to cover the outside of our kits and the laminated cardboard on the inside for structural purposes. Sometimes, for these inside pieces, we also use the sheets of pressed wood that protect shipments of plywood from their shipping pallets. It takes time to salvage these materials, but we believe it is well worth it.
We are always on the lookout for high quality discards from various industries. Due to the nature of using salvaged materials, we have limited supplies, and unknown future supplies. For this reason our products are truly unique, individual enough to be called simply "M.E." , reflecting "my earth" and "my essentials" all in one.
organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides and herbicides. Many aren't yet aware but conventional cotton, as it is produced worldwide today, accounts for 25% of the entire earth's insecticides and 10% of the pesticides. We use black organic cotton canvas as the inner fabric in all of our holders.
We know you'll love these essential oil kits. It's not only about functionality and convenience, its about doing what is good for "my earth" along the way.
